Description

The Porkpie is designed with a classic telescope crown and stingy snap brim. A fine ribbon hat band wraps around the crown.

Origin of this style

The Porkpie is a model with narrow, sometimes curled-up brims and short flat crowns. It was a popular hat model among British and American women, worn exclusively by the female gender between the years 1830-1865; from 1880, men in England began to use it. It was not until 1920 that the actor Buster Keaton began to use it in all his films, for this he reformed Stenson hats, creating more than a thousand in all his career. Keaton is credited with bringing this model back to the United States. The origin of the name Porkpie is derived from the shape and crease of the crown, which bore a likeness to the Melton Mowbray pork pie, a pastry created in Leicestershire around 1760. My version of this model has a higher crown, I think it looks better, a little more modern, but; I can make it more traditional if you want.
